Mohbad’s Father Makes Plea for DNA Test to Enable Son’s Burial

The grieving father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad has made a heartbreaking public appeal for help in securing a DNA test, saying it is the only way he can finally bury his son’s body; nearly three years after the musician’s death. The emotional request was widely shared in a video circulating online.

This development was reported on April 9, 2026, as Joseph Aloba, widely known as Baba Mohbad, begged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the global community to assist with conducting a paternity DNA test for his late son’s child, Liam. Aloba said the long delay in carrying out the test (due to repeated logistical and laboratory challenges) has left Mohbad’s body in a morgue and prevented the family from giving him a proper burial.

The legal dispute over Liam’s paternity has kept the case in limbo, sparking tension between Mohbad’s family and his widow, Wunmi. Court rulings previously ordered a DNA test, but progress has stalled, leaving the fatherù distraught and pleading for urgent help.

Baba Mohbad’s emotional plea has reignited public debate about the unresolved circumstances surrounding the popular singer’s death and the rights of his child, as well as the painful delay in laying Mohbad to rest.
