Nollywood actress Damilola Oni has voiced her concerns regarding relentless online harassment, revealing that she frequently receives explicit messages and unsolicited images from male followers.
In an interview aired on Oyinmomo TV, the actress, known for her striking figure, shared her experiences in the entertainment industry and the troubling patterns of harassment she faces on social media.
“Every morning, I open my Instagram to find men sending me graphic images, claiming ‘I am everything you need, baby.’ My inbox is flooded with all sorts of messages from various men, including older individuals,” she explained.
Oni also noted that some individuals make inappropriate confessions about how they interact with her content. “Some even admit to watching me on TV and using my image for self-gratification,” she revealed.
Currently single, Oni reflected on the challenges of navigating the entertainment industry, emphasizing that visibility often trumps talent. “I am very single. It seems that those who are more flamboyant tend to succeed over the genuinely talented. One must find a way to stand out to remain relevant, as many deserving individuals are overlooked,” she stated.
Additionally, Oni recounted a difficult experience on a film set, where she was reportedly removed from a lead role due to a colleague’s refusal to work with her. “I was on set for more than eight hours waiting for a lead role, only to be informed later that someone else wouldn’t work with me,” she shared.
Though the producer offered her a minor role instead, Oni chose not to dwell on the disappointment. “I was sad, but I decided to stay and fulfill my commitment. I won’t let anyone drive me away from this industry,” she affirmed.
Despite the challenges and harassment she endures, Damilola Oni remains resolute in her determination to succeed in the entertainment world.
