Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that the death of his mother earlier this year forced him to take a break from music.
The singer, also known as Vado D’Great, made the disclosure on Friday while responding to a fan on X who assumed that his absence was connected to preparations for a new album.
The fan, @VicroyDominion1, had written, “I guess album really made you busy you had to pause for a while.”
Kizz Daniel replied: “I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year.”
His disclosure prompted an outpouring of condolences and messages of support from fans, who sympathised with him over the loss.
The singer, known for hit songs including “Woju” and “Buga”, has previously spoken publicly about personal losses.
He lost his father in 2015 and one of his triplets in 2021.
In a 2025 interview, Kizz Daniel also revealed that his wife lost her mother in 2024 while discussing the personal experiences that influenced his song, “Al-Jannah.”
