Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and King Charles III on Thursday, 18 March 2026, led a high-profile interfaith dialogue as part of Nigeria’s ongoing state visit to the United Kingdom, aimed at deepening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties.

The meeting was held at Vicars’ Hall, Windsor, where religious leaders from across the UK and beyond gathered for discussions centred on unity, tolerance, and shared values.

The interfaith session brought together Christian, Muslim, and other faith leaders at a time of heightened international attention on religious tensions in Nigeria. The dialogue comes amid concerns raised by some advocacy groups and foreign lawmakers over reports of violence and allegations of targeted attacks against Christian communities.

Against this backdrop, both President Tinubu and King Charles used the forum to emphasise the importance of cooperation, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence among different faiths. Their remarks sought to reinforce dialogue as a tool for addressing sensitive global and domestic concerns surrounding religious violence.

Beyond the interfaith engagement, President Tinubu highlighted the growing influence of the Nigerian diaspora in the United Kingdom, particularly in key sectors such as healthcare, education, and the creative industries. He commended their contributions while reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to constructive engagement on social and cultural issues.

King Charles, in his remarks, acknowledged the enduring relationship between the United Kingdom and Nigeria, noting that the ties between both nations extend beyond politics to include deep-rooted economic and cultural connections.

The interfaith dialogue formed a key moment in the state visit, reflecting a shared effort by both countries to promote understanding and strengthen bilateral relations in an increasingly complex global landscape
