The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the state’s Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his duties with immediate effect.
The development was announced in a statement issued Tuesday night by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
According to the statement, the decision is part of ongoing efforts by the state government to restructure the civil service in order to enhance efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across government institutions.
Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his dedication and contributions to the service of the state during his tenure.
The governor also directed Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration at the Office of the Executive Council, to assume the role of Acting Head of Service pending the appointment of a substantive replacement.
The statement further instructed the outgoing Head of Service to hand over the affairs of the office to the acting official on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
