The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from his appointment, effective Monday, October 12, 2026.

Ogunwuyi announced his decision in a resignation letter dated October 12, in which he thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve the state and expressed confidence in its continued development.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” he said.

The former chief of staff also expressed pride in the administration’s achievements, noting that his time in office had contributed to efforts aimed at advancing the state’s growth and prosperity.

“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State,” he wrote.

He added that he was leaving with gratitude for the opportunity to serve and reaffirmed his loyalty to Oyo State and Nigeria.

Ogunwuyi’s resignation comes amid the departure of several aides from Makinde’s administration over the past two months. However, his letter did not state a reason for his decision to leave office.

Before his appointment as chief of staff, Ogunwuyi served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.
