The Peoples Democratic Party has commenced its 2027 presidential and National Assembly campaign in Ogun Central Senatorial District, drawing large crowds of supporters across the three federal constituencies in the district.
The campaign train, led by the party’s Ogun State governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, and its Ogun Central senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, moved through Ifo/Ewekoro, Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South Federal Constituencies on Wednesday.
The exercise began at Agbado Station in Ifo/Ewekoro, where residents and party supporters lined the streets and adjoining buildings to welcome the candidates and other party leaders.
The campaign later moved to NTA Junction, Totoro, in Abeokuta North, where supporters had gathered hours before the arrival of the team to show solidarity with the party’s House of Representatives candidate, Dele Olaleye.
A similar reception greeted the campaign train in Abeokuta South, with supporters following the convoy to the Ake Pavilion, venue of the Ogun Central flag-off rally. Toyin Amuzu is the PDP candidate for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
Addressing supporters at the rally, Adebutu urged voters in Ogun Central to reject what he described as years of poor performance and support the PDP candidates in the 2027 elections.
Adebutu particularly endorsed Obasanjo, urging the electorate to return her to the National Assembly on the strength of her previous representation of the district. He also called on supporters to vote for the PDP on January 16, 2027, and protect their votes against intimidation.
Obasanjo, in her remarks, said the reception across the constituencies showed that residents still remembered projects and interventions associated with her previous tenure. She promised to intensify her efforts to improve the welfare of the people if elected, while supporters at the rally pledged to vote for the party and defend their mandate.
