The Northern States Governors’ Forum has expressed strong condemnation of the recent violent incidents and killings occurring in Kwara, Katsina, and Benue States.

The governors labeled these attacks as barbaric and senseless, viewing them as an affront to the nation’s moral fabric.

This condemnation was articulated in a statement released on Thursday by the Forum’s Chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, through his media aide, Ismaila Uba-Misilli.

Governor Yahaya conveyed his profound sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and extended condolences to the families, communities, and governments of the affected states.

He emphasized that the ongoing violence against defenseless individuals, including women, children, and the elderly, highlights the brutality of the attackers and the urgent need for decisive action.

“These violent acts are intolerable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” Yahaya stated.

The Forum commended the governors of Kwara, Katsina, and Benue for their efforts in addressing security challenges, aiding affected communities, and collaborating with federal authorities to restore peace.

Yahaya urged security agencies to enhance intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated operations to apprehend those responsible for the attacks and their supporters.

He reiterated that safeguarding lives and property is a fundamental duty of the government.

The Northern Governors assured Nigerians of their dedication to collaborating closely with the Federal Government, security agencies, traditional leaders, and community heads to combat insecurity through improved security measures, intelligence-led policing, and long-term social and economic strategies. He prayed for the souls of the deceased and wished a swift recovery for the injured, urging citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces.

This statement came in the wake of deadly assaults on the Woro and Nuku communities in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, where suspected terrorists struck on Tuesday night.

In Katsina State, at least 20 individuals were reported killed in the Doma A and Doma B communities of Tafoki Ward in Faskari Local Government Area.

Another incident was reported in the Abande community of Mbaikyor Ward, Turan, in the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, where numerous residents were reportedly killed.
