Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has responded to criticism from some supporters of Peter Obi, popularly known as the Obidients, following his recent meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and socialite Cubana Chief Priest. Fayose insisted that the meeting does not signify a change in his political allegiance.
Speaking in a video released on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Fayose explained that the gathering was a private social engagement during which politics and national issues were discussed. He clarified that a prayer session held at the end of the meeting, including prayers for President Tinubu, was spontaneous and should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose maintained that he remains “101% Obidient” and continues to support Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 general elections. He disclosed that he openly told Seyi Tinubu and Cubana Chief Priest during their discussions that he still believes the Obidient movement would prevail politically, stressing that friendship should not be mistaken for political defection.
He also dismissed allegations that he had been induced to soften his political stance, insisting that his views remain unchanged.
The clarification has generated widespread reactions on social media, with supporters and critics expressing differing opinions over Fayose’s meeting with members of the Tinubu camp, highlighting the heightened political tensions as the 2027 general elections approach.
