The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered 131,165 new voters in Edo State following the conclusion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise conducted between August 2025 and July 2026.
The commission also disclosed that 52,907 voters applied to transfer their voting locations to different polling units, while 19,565 people requested corrections to their personal information, including names, dates of birth, gender, addresses and profession.
The figures were contained in a report released by the commission’s spokesperson in Edo State, Toyin Buoro, detailing the outcome of the registration exercise across the state.
According to the report, Ovia North East Local Government Area recorded the highest number of new registrations among the state’s local government areas with 11,613 voters, followed by Oredo with 9,544, while Owan West recorded the lowest figure with 3,393 new voters.
The report also showed that the INEC State Office accounted for 11,747 registrations, the highest recorded at a single registration centre.
It stated: “A total of 131,165 new voters were registered in Edo State in the just concluded Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which took place between August 2025 and July 2026.
“Owan West Local Government had the least registration with 3,393 new voters, while Ovia North East recorded 11,613 new voters and Oredo had 9,544 new voters.”
INEC said the exercise forms part of its efforts to expand voter participation and ensure eligible Nigerians are captured in the national voters’ register ahead of future elections.
