Reports have emerged on Sunday that India and Russia have activated a defence cooperation agreement that could permit the deployment of up to 3,000 troops each on one another’s territory, alongside limited naval and air assets, as part of expanded military collaboration.
The reported arrangement is said to form part of a broader effort to deepen strategic and defence ties between the two countries, even as global geopolitical tensions remain high.
According to the reports, the framework would allow both sides to temporarily station personnel and selected military equipment for training, coordination, and joint operational readiness exercises.
