The Ondo State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Pastor Peter Olagookun, has praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s performance in office, urging residents to disregard what he described as a campaign of calumny and propaganda against the governor.
Olagookun, who spoke during the 2026 Oka Day celebration in Oka Akoko, also congratulated the Olubaka of Oka, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, and sons and daughters of the community on the annual New Yam Festival, praying for continued peace and prosperity.
The NNPP chairman said his party had commenced preparations for the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that its candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and Ondo State House of Assembly would emerge victorious. He added that the party would decide its position on the presidential election at the appropriate time.
Speaking on developments in Ondo State, Olagookun commended the governor for ongoing infrastructure projects and other interventions, saying roads, flyovers, roundabouts, traffic lights, healthcare initiatives and the approval of funds for university workers reflected the administration’s commitment to governance.
He alleged that those criticising the governor were largely members of the ruling All Progressives Congress rather than opposition parties, insisting that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s performance had weakened opposition criticism in the state.
The NNPP chairman said his party would continue to align with the governor’s EASE Agenda, maintaining that governance should take precedence over political rivalry.
Olagookun also cautioned politicians against what he described as premature politicking ahead of the 2028 election cycle, urging political actors to place the state’s development above personal ambition.
Also speaking, the Ondo North Senatorial Chairman of the NNPP, Hon. Apata Johnson, commended Olagookun’s leadership and pledged the continued loyalty of party members. He also praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s performance, saying public office holders who perform creditably deserved commendation regardless of political affiliation.
He urged party faithful to remain committed to the NNPP and continue supporting its leadership as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
