In a recent interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT), the respected actor shared details of the daily expenses he incurs just to maintain a steady power supply in his household.
Edochie explained that he spends about ₦10,000 each day on electricity, but that is only part of the cost. Due to the country’s persistent power supply challenges, he also relies heavily on alternative sources. According to him, he spends an additional ₦30,000 daily on fuel and diesel — ₦20,000 on diesel and ₦10,000 on petrol — to run generators that keep his home functioning.
Altogether, the actor says he spends around ₦40,000 every day simply to have electricity, a situation he described as deeply troubling.
Speaking candidly, Edochie said the financial strain reflects the wider reality faced by many Nigerians who continue to struggle with unstable power supply and the high cost of energy alternatives.
Beyond the economic burden, he also criticized the political class, suggesting that many politicians are more focused on enjoying the privileges of power rather than addressing the pressing needs of citizens. According to him, the struggles of ordinary Nigerians often appear to receive little attention from those in leadership.
His remarks add to the growing public conversation about Nigeria’s electricity challenges and the everyday impact they have on households across the country.
