A woman identifying herself as Damilola and describing herself as a daughter of Nigerian juju music legend, King Sunny Ade, has spoken publicly about what she described as years of hardship while living with her father.
Damilola made the allegations in an emotional video posted on Instagram on September 21, saying she experienced difficulties involving food, school fees and other basic needs while growing up.
Addressing the music legend directly, she said, “I never knew pain till I lived with my father.”
Damilola, who said she is 21 and based in the United Kingdom where she cares for her mother, alleged that she and some of her half-siblings sometimes went without basic necessities despite what she described as her father’s steady income from live performances.
She further alleged that she and other siblings were sometimes left waiting at her father’s performances overnight and returned to find little or nothing available at home.
According to her, some of her siblings in Nigeria still do not receive financial support from the musician.
Damilola said she had raised the issues privately over the years but decided to speak publicly because she wanted accountability for what she described as her past experiences.
She stressed that she was not seeking money from her father, saying her concern was accountability over what happened in the past.
The woman also indicated that the video was only the first part of what she intended to disclose, suggesting that further allegations could follow.
However, the claims contained in the video have not been independently verified.
King Sunny Ade had not publicly responded to the specific allegations at the time of the report. Damilola had previously made allegations against him in 2025, which the musician denied.
