I Am Very Satisfied with Governors Over Conduct of Various APC Primaries — Tinubu

By Paul Joseph

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections, praising governors and party officials for what he described as a credible and democratic exercise. His remarks come in light of the ongoing debates over internal democracy within political parties in Nigeria.

The president made the statements on Saturday while speaking with journalists in Lagos shortly after participating in the APC presidential direct primary.

In a video circulating online, Tinubu said the process had been transparent and well-organised from the ward level to the final stages of delegate accreditation and validation.

“For the process so far, I am very satisfied, very, very satisfied that these governors have done well in their various states, from the ward congresses to local government congresses, to the delegate accreditation, validation, and members’ register certification of the electoral process,” the president stated.

He added that the exercise reflected democratic maturity within the ruling party.

“It has been all very well. At least you will score democracy at a high level,” Tinubu said.

The APC presidential direct primary was conducted across different states, with party members participating in the selection process amid heightened political activities ahead of the next general elections.

Party officials in several states also reported peaceful accreditation and orderly voting during the exercise, while security personnel were deployed to strategic locations to ensure smooth conduct.

Political analysts say the president’s public endorsement of the process may further strengthen confidence among APC loyalists as the party prepares for future electoral contests.
