Hon. Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, the member representing Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has come under criticism following the release of beneficiaries for his empowerment programme.
The backlash emerged on May 6, 2026, after critics alleged that the list favored individuals from the lawmaker’s ethnic group, raising concerns about fairness in the distribution of the initiative.
Some residents and observers in Lagos questioned the selection process, arguing that the constituency is ethnically diverse and should reflect balanced representation in such programmes.
However, there has been no official confirmation of wrongdoing, and Onuakalusi has not publicly responded to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
The development has sparked reactions on social media, with calls for transparency and inclusiveness in constituency projects funded with public resources.
