Heavy rainfall that occurred in Ganye today has caused severe damage to several major roads, leaving residents concerned and disrupting both vehicular and pedestrian movement within the affected communities.
Among the worst hit roads are the LCCN Junction Sabon Kasuwa Road and the Ganye 3 Sangassumi Poksum Multipurpose Hall Junction Road, where floodwaters washed over sections of the roads, causing serious erosion and damaging drainage infrastructure.
Residents of the affected areas have appealed to the government to urgently rehabilitate the damaged roads and construct durable drainage systems to protect lives and property, as well as reduce the recurring challenges experienced during the rainy season.
As of the time of filing this report, weather conditions still indicate the possibility of further heavy rainfall, raising fears that the situation could worsen if immediate preventive measures are not taken.
