The Progressives Think Tank has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Nigeria’s recent triumph in an international arbitration dispute with European Dynamics UK Ltd., a victory that reportedly saved the country from a potential liability of over $6.2 million (about N9.3 billion).
The dispute arose from a national e-Procurement project overseen by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
The arbitration tribunal dismissed all claims brought by the UK-based contractor against Nigeria, ruling in favour of the federal government.
In a statement released in Akure, Christiana Titus, National Coordinator of the Progressives Think Tank, described the outcome as a “major achievement” for Nigeria and praised the president for demonstrating strong leadership and support for institutions safeguarding the nation’s economic and legal interests internationally.
The group also lauded Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, for defending Nigeria’s legal position, and Adebowale Adedokun, Director General of BPP, for ensuring that due process was followed throughout the handling of the matter.
According to the statement, the tribunal’s decision underscores that Nigeria will not be pressured into paying for services that fail to meet contractual and technical standards, sending a firm message to the international community that the country is committed to protecting public funds and defending its rights globally.
The Progressives Think Tank noted that this victory reinforces confidence in Nigeria’s legal institutions and highlights the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and fiscal prudence in handling public contracts.
This latest development adds to the government’s record of upholding legal and economic safeguards in international dealings, projecting Nigeria as a nation that defends its interests robustly on the global stage.
