The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed more than 170 ambulances nationwide as part of efforts to strengthen emergency response and rescue operations following road crashes.
FRSC Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, disclosed this on Monday, September 28, 2026, in Abuja, while responding to questions about the Corps’ emergency ambulance network.
Ohaeri said the FRSC has more than 170 ambulances and 60 Zebra points across the country, but clarified that the figure should not be interpreted as the number currently operational or serviceable. He said the latest fleet-status report would be required to establish the exact number in active service.
He explained that ambulance availability depends on location, condition and assignment, while the Corps continues to strengthen rescue deployment and collaboration with other emergency agencies.
The FRSC has also urged road users to report crashes and request emergency assistance through its toll-free emergency line, 122.
Give responders the exact location, direction of travel and number of victims, if known. Accurate information can help emergency teams reach the scene faster.
