In a recent reshuffle in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has disbanded the State Executive Council, indicating a significant change in his administration. This decision aims to realign the government and enhance the efficiency of the state’s civil service.
Following the cabinet dissolution, the governor has promoted five senior civil servants to the position of Permanent Secretary within the Rivers State Civil Service.
The newly appointed officials are:
- Dr. Wachukwu Vincent Worgu
- Eke Cordelia Uwuma
- Ogboma Ifeanyi Anthony
- Dr. Jim-Jaja Mina Gogo
- Uzor Henry
The governor is set to officially swear in the new Permanent Secretaries on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
This move is largely viewed as an effort to strengthen the foundation of the state’s bureaucracy while preparations are made for the establishment of a new cabinet.
