Four prosecution witnesses in the corruption trial of former Nigerian Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison‑Madueke testified remotely from Abuja on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as part of proceedings before the Southwark Crown Court in London, United Kingdom.
The testimonies were given via video link in a session held at the Federal High Court, Abuja, under the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act, 2018, which allows evidence to be taken in Nigeria for use in foreign criminal proceedings.
Justice James Omotosho oversaw the Nigerian portion of the hearing beginning around 11:00 a.m. Nigerian time, while the Southwark Crown Court judge, jury, and the defendants participated virtually from London.
Alison‑Madueke, who served as Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources from 2010 to 2015, is charged with six offences, including multiple counts of accepting bribes and conspiracy in connection with oil and gas contracts awarded during her tenure. She denies all allegations.
Proceedings were adjourned to Thursday, February 26, 2026, when two additional witnesses are scheduled to testify.
