An Ibadan-based cleric, Pastor Biodun Oladele, has predicted that a former Nigerian head of state will die in 2026, describing the development as one of the major political events expected to shape the country in the coming year.
The prophecy forms part of his annual message titled “Prophecies for the Year 2026,” in which he released what he described as spiritual insights concerning Nigeria, its leadership, the economy and global developments.
Speaking while unveiling the prophecies, Pastor Oladele said the death of a former head of state would be a notable political occurrence in 2026. He, however, did not mention any individual by name.
According to him, such an event would mark a significant moment in Nigeria’s political history, urging Nigerians to remain prayerful and reflective as the year unfolds.
The cleric listed the prediction among several others touching on governance, security and leadership transitions, stressing that 2026 would be a highly dramatic year with developments capable of shaping the nation’s future beyond the immediate period.
Pastor Oladele maintained that his prophecies were not intended to instil fear, but to serve as spiritual warnings and a call to prayer. He called on both leaders and citizens to respond with wisdom, unity and vigilance as the nation approaches the year.
As with similar prophetic declarations in the past, the statement has continued to generate discussions across religious and public spaces, further fuelling debates on leadership, legacy and Nigeria’s national direction.
