Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has emerged as the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Adamawa North Senatorial District after securing the party’s ticket unopposed during the primary election.
The primary, conducted under the supervision of party officials and stakeholders, reportedly witnessed no other aspirant cleared to contest for the ticket, leading to Fintiri’s emergence as the consensus candidate of the party.
Officials who monitored the exercise said the process was carried out in accordance with the party’s internal guidelines and the provisions of the Electoral Act, noting that the absence of eligible challengers automatically returned the governor as the APC flag bearer for the district.
Stakeholders at the venue described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and transparent, while political observers in Adamawa State said the outcome reflects growing strategic realignments within the party ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Observers also described the development as a significant moment in the political structure of the party in Adamawa North, with insiders characterising the move as a “strategic consensus” aimed at strengthening the APC’s position in the zone.
Although official accreditation figures from the exercise were yet to be released at the time of filing this report, party members present during the primary expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the process.
With the outcome of the primary, Governor Fintiri now officially stands as the APC candidate for the Adamawa North Senatorial election.
