The family of the late Nollywood veteran, Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, has released the schedule for his remaining burial rites.
Ogogo passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66. His death was officially announced by his colleague and fellow veteran actor, Jide Kosoko. Following his passing, he was laid to rest in Ilaro, Ogun State, on August 24, in accordance with Islamic tradition. The burial was attended by numerous industry figures, including Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, and Femi Adebayo.
In a recent statement, Jide Kosoko, speaking on behalf of the family, confirmed that the 8th-day Fidau prayer will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Ilaro.
Additionally, the family and the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) are planning an “Artists’ Day” to take place 40 days after the burial at the Pavilion Hall, Ilaro. This event is intended to honor the late actor’s legacy through performances by actors, musicians, and comedians.
Expressing the family’s gratitude, Kosoko thanked everyone who attended the burial, noting that the massive turnout was a testament to the love and respect the public held for the late filmmaker. He encouraged fans and colleagues to continue supporting the family during this time and to join them in prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
Ogogo, who began his career in the early 1980s, was a celebrated figure in the Yoruba film industry, known for his work as an actor, producer, and filmmaker. His passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans and peers who remember his significant contributions to cinema.
