Families of pupils, students, and teachers abducted during the recent attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have reportedly rejected bags of rice and cash donations sent by Governor Seyi Makinde, insisting that their primary concern is the safe return of their loved ones rather than material assistance.
According to reports, the grieving families expressed frustration and emotional distress over the continued captivity of the victims, arguing that food items and monetary support cannot replace the urgent need for decisive action to secure their release. Many relatives reportedly stated that they would only find comfort when the abducted children and teachers are reunited with their families.
The incident has intensified public concern over the security situation in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole, with citizens questioning the effectiveness of measures aimed at protecting schools and vulnerable communities.
Rights groups, religious leaders, and community organizations have also renewed calls for swift rescue operations and stronger security interventions.
