Troops of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna have reportedly arrested a man accused of boldly dressing and operating as a “Major General” without any official record or authorization.
Security sources said the suspect whose identity has not yet be confirmed was picked up on Thursday evening after drawing attention for wearing a full senior military uniform and presenting himself as a high-ranking officer despite having no documented affiliation with the armed forces.
According to preliminary accounts, the individual had allegedly been moving around in the guise of a senior military officer, engaging with members of the public while maintaining what witnesses described as “convincing confidence” in his assumed rank.
He was subsequently taken into custody for questioning to determine how he obtained the uniform and the extent of his impersonation activities.
Military authorities are expected to verify his identity and investigate possible breaches relating to impersonation, unauthorized possession of military attire, and potential security concerns.
While official details remain limited, residents who reportedly encountered the man described him as “very confident” in his presentation, with some noting that he appeared to have received admiration and recognition from unsuspecting members of the public prior to his arrest.
The Nigerian Army has not yet issued a formal statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
Security analysts say cases of military impersonation are treated seriously due to potential risks to public safety and the integrity of the armed forces.
