A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Bọ̀sún Àrébùwà, has thrown his weight behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, commending his leadership and calling on residents of the state to give the administration maximum support.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, ÀRÉBÙWÀ praised the governor’s performance in security management, inclusive governance, and socio-economic development, describing his leadership as decisive and people-oriented.
“He has shown decisive and people-oriented leadership in critical areas such as security, governance, and economic development,” ÀRÉBÙWÀ said.
He said the governor’s approach to governance is helping to bridge political divides while placing priority on the safety and welfare of citizens, adding that it has contributed to easing political tension and rebuilding public trust in government.
“His style of governance is gradually bridging political divides while restoring confidence in leadership and prioritising the welfare of the people,” he added.
ÀRÉBÙWÀ particularly pointed to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s swift response to the recent attacks in Imafon, Igushin, and Ilado communities in Akure North Local Government Area.
He noted that the governor’s visit to the affected communities, where he engaged traditional rulers, bereaved families, and other stakeholders, demonstrated empathy and responsiveness in leadership.
“The governor’s presence in the affected communities and his engagement with victims and stakeholders show empathy and a hands-on approach to governance,” he noted.
During the visit, Aiyedatiwa condemned the killings including the murder of a female farmer and her daughter, and the shooting of a young man who resisted abduction and pledged decisive action to eliminate criminal elements from the area.
The governor also rolled out measures to strengthen security, including the establishment of Amotekun posts, enhanced collaboration with security agencies, and support for local hunters and vigilante groups to secure forests and rural communities.
According to government figures, more than 100 suspected kidnappers have been arrested and prosecuted, while security operations continue to target criminal hideouts.
ÀRÉBÙWÀ described these efforts as “bold and necessary,” noting that the synergy between the military, police, civil defence, and local security networks reflects a proactive and community-based security framework.
“These efforts are bold and necessary, and they reflect a proactive, community-based approach to tackling insecurity,” he said.
Beyond security, the former PDP aspirant commended the administration’s infrastructural drive, especially ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across the state.
He said improved road networks are boosting connectivity, enhancing security access, and supporting economic activities.
“Improved road infrastructure is not only enhancing connectivity but also strengthening security access and boosting economic activities across the state,” he stated.
He also acknowledged efforts to stimulate the economy through support for small and medium-scale enterprises and initiatives aimed at attracting investment, noting that these policies are gradually creating opportunities for residents.
On governance, ÀRÉBÙWÀ praised what he described as an inclusive leadership style, where appointments and policy decisions reflect competence, fairness, and regional balance.
He cited the appointment of Engr. (Dr.) Lawson Olorunwa Sunday as Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, as an example of merit-based leadership that strengthens institutional development in the education sector.
“Appointments based on merit and competence, such as that of the Acting Rector, are critical to strengthening our institutions and ensuring sustainable development,” he said.
While applauding the administration’s achievements, ÀRÉBÙWÀ urged the governor to sustain the current momentum and deepen reforms in critical sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and job creation.
He emphasised that continued investment in security, infrastructure, and human capital development would further position Ondo State as a leading subnational economy.
ÀRÉBÙWÀ also called on residents of Ondo State to support the Aiyedatiwa-led administration, stressing that collective backing from the public is essential for the consolidation of ongoing reforms and the delivery of long-term development goals.
“I urge the people of Ondo State to give their maximum support to this administration, as collective effort is key to sustaining progress and achieving long-term development,” he concluded.
