A former Council Chairman of Akoko North-West Local Government Area, Festus Olutope Adebambo, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing deep divisions within the party at the local government level.
Adebambo, who also served as Special Adviser to former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko, announced his resignation in a letter dated April 8, 2026, addressed to the Ward Chairman of APC, Ogbagi Ward 6.
In the letter, the former council boss said his decision was driven primarily by divisions within the party that had placed his community at a significant disadvantage.
“My decision to leave the APC is driven primarily by the deep divisions within the party in our Local Government, which have placed my community at a significant disadvantage. I am also guided by my sincere concern for the welfare and progress of my people,” he stated.
Adebambo, however, expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership and members for the opportunity to work together during his time in the APC.
“I appreciate the leadership and members of the APC for the opportunity to collaborate during my time with the party. I wish the party well as it continues to chart its future course,” he added.
The resignation letter was acknowledged and confirmed as received by the Ward Chairman on April 9, 2026.
The development is the latest in a series of defections rocking the APC in Ondo State ahead of the political activities in the coming months.
