Former Bayelsa State Governor and national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has reportedly criticized some supporters of Peter Obi over alleged attacks and internal tensions within the party, insisting that no individual or group is doing the NDC a favour by belonging to the political platform. The remarks come amid growing debates over the influence and role of Obi’s supporters within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dickson is said to have emphasized the need for discipline, mutual respect, and adherence to party structures, warning against actions capable of creating divisions within the opposition movement.
He reportedly maintained that the NDC belongs to all its members and should not be dominated by any particular faction or interest group.
The development highlights the challenges facing opposition parties as political realignments continue across Nigeria.
Analysts believe maintaining unity within the NDC will be crucial as the party seeks to strengthen its position and present a formidable challenge in the 2027 elections.
