Resident’s of Zamfara community in Miri District of Bauchi Local Government Area have appealed to the government and other stakeholders to come to their aid over what they described as years of neglect and inadequate basic infrastructure.
Although the community is located less than two kilometres from Wuntin Dada along the Jos Road, residents say the deplorable condition of the access road has continued to make movement difficult and negatively impact their daily lives.
During a visit by our correspondant, residents lamented the hardship they endure as a result of the poor road network and the absence of other essential social amenities.
They noted that while the rainy season is yet to reach its peak, conditions are already becoming challenging, warning that the situation is usually much worse during periods of heavy rainfall.
Speaking in an interview Dahiru Abubakar Zamfara, said the community urgently requires government intervention, particularly in the areas of road construction, education and healthcare.
According to him, the lack of these critical facilities continues to hinder both the welfare of residents and the overall development of the area.
He further appealed to the Bauchi State Government, as well as well-meaning individuals, to support the community by providing much-needed infrastructure and social services.
Another resident, Hamisu Abubakar Zamfara, expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the community’s school and the persistent challenges posed by the poor road network, especially during the rainy season.
He lamented that political leaders often make promises of development during election campaigns but fail to fulfil them after securing victory at the polls, despite the community’s close proximity to Bauchi metropolis.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Zamfara Youth Association, Lawan Yunusa Zamfara, described the level of infrastructural decay in the community as alarming.
He stated that the school constructed during the administration of former Bauchi State Governor, Ahmad Adamu Mu’azu, has deteriorated significantly and is in urgent need of rehabilitation.
Lawan also decried the lack of electricity and the poor state of the access road, noting that residents face even greater difficulties during the rainy season. He called on the Bauchi State Government to urgently intervene and address the community’s challenges.
The residents expressed hope that their concerns would reach the appropriate authorities and translate into concrete action aimed at improving living conditions in the community and reducing the hardships they face on a daily basis.
