Davido Blasts Oyetola Over Alleged Osun 2026 Plot

By Paul Joseph

Nigerian music star Davido has publicly criticised former Osun State governor and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, over what he described as a failed political strategy ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

The award-winning singer took to X in the early hours of Tuesday to accuse Oyetola of desperation amid rising political tension in Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship poll.

In the strongly worded post, Davido wrote: “The most desperate politician in the world is @GboyegaOyetola very embarrassing. Oyetola your plan no go work.”

Although the singer did not explain the specific “plan” he was referring to, the comment has stirred reactions online, especially as political activities intensify in Osun ahead of the crucial election.

Davido, who hails from Osun State and comes from the influential Adeleke political family, has remained vocal about political developments in the state. His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, currently serves as the governor of Osun State, making the singer’s remarks likely to fuel further political debate between supporters of the ruling administration and opposition figures.

The latest outburst adds to the growing atmosphere of rivalry between camps loyal to Governor Adeleke and allies of Oyetola, who governed the state between 2018 and 2022 before losing re-election.

Political observers believe the coming months may witness intensified campaigns, political exchanges and heightened public attention as parties prepare for the governorship contest.
