The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the processes that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The court also nullified the emergence of former Senate President David Mark, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola and other party officials as national leaders of the ADC.
In a judgment delivered on Thursday, November 5, 2026, Justice Peter Lifu upheld the suit filed by Nafiu Bala Gombe, a Deputy National Chairman of the party, challenging the legality of the leadership structure headed by Mark and Aregbesola.
The judge ruled that the processes through which the affected leaders emerged were unlawful, consequently invalidating all actions taken by the David Mark-led leadership in the name of the party.
The judgment further nullified the nominations of all ADC candidates for the 2027 general elections, on the grounds that they emerged under the disputed leadership structure.
The ruling represents a major development in the ADC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, particularly regarding its presidential ticket and candidates nominated across the country.
