Troops have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of providing support to terrorists in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.
The suspect, identified as Bacha Modu Isah, was apprehended in Ngamdu at about 10:10pm on September 2 following intelligence received by security operatives.
The operation was conducted by personnel of the 154 Task Force Battalion alongside Forest Guards and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF.
Security sources said the arrest was part of efforts to penetrate and disrupt support structures allegedly aiding terrorist activities within local communities.
According to the source, preliminary questioning established that Isah is from Gowo Village in Kaga Local Government Area.
“Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspect is a native of Gowo Village in Kaga LGA,” the source said.
Operatives also recovered several items from the suspect during the operation.
“During the operation, troops recovered a charm, lighter, ring and a leather item from the suspect,” the source added.
The suspect remains in military custody while investigators work to establish the nature and extent of his alleged links with terrorist elements.
The latest arrest highlights the security forces’ continued focus on individuals suspected of providing intelligence, logistical assistance or other forms of support to terrorist groups operating in parts of Borno.
Security agencies have continued to combine military operations with intelligence gathering and community-based security structures as part of efforts to weaken terrorist networks in the state.
