Parents and community members from Mussa and Lassa communities in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State have given the Federal Government six days to rescue their abducted children, warning that they will take their protest to the Presidential Villa in Abuja if the deadline expires without a rescue.
The ultimatum was issued during a protest in Maiduguri on Sunday, as distressed families appealed directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and secure the release of the children, who have reportedly spent more than 130 days in captivity.
Chairman of the Mussa Parents of Abductees, Shuibu Umaru, said the parents would stage a major protest at the Presidential Villa if the government failed to rescue the children within the six-day period.
The affected communities say 44 children from Mussa Ward and 36 from Lassa are among those abducted. A lawmaker representing Askira/Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency, Midala Usman Balami, said the children had been in captivity since May 15 and urged the Federal and Borno State governments to deploy every available resource to secure their release.
The parents have also questioned why children abducted in Oyo State were rescued while their own children remain in captivity.
Their message to the Federal Government is clear: rescue the children within six days or face a major protest at the Presidential Villa.
