Nigerian relationship expert Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has confirmed the death of her son, Bryan Onyedikachi, while denying that she authorised anyone to announce the tragedy or solicit money on her behalf.
Blessing, who is currently in custody, reportedly lost her second son while unable to personally attend to the situation.
The development was initially announced publicly by Amira Agiye, CEO of the Isaamira Love Foundation, who appealed to Nigerians to raise ₦56 million reportedly comprising ₦20 million connected to Blessing’s bail conditions and another ₦36 million relating to an outstanding financial claim. Agiye said the fundraising was being conducted with Blessing’s consent.
However, Blessing has now disputed that claim.
In a phone conversation with actress Doris Ogala, shared online, Blessing confirmed her son’s death but said she never gave anyone permission to speak publicly on her behalf.
“I didn’t give anybody consent. And I think I’m in the best position to break the news of my son’s death, not an entire stranger,” she said.
Ogala subsequently urged people who had donated through the reported appeal to seek refunds, saying Blessing had not authorised the fundraising and was already close to completing her bail process.
The conflicting accounts have now raised questions over who authorised the fundraising appeal and whether donations made in Blessing’s name were legitimate.
While reports have confirmed Blessing’s acknowledgement of Bryan’s death, the circumstances surrounding the child’s death have not been independently established in the reports reviewed.
