A former Director of Personnel Management in Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Alhaji Nasiru Mohammed, has been killed after suspected bandits attacked his residence in Yauri Local Government Area.

The attack occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Friday in the Low Cost area of Yauri, where the gunmen reportedly stormed the deceased’s home in an apparent kidnap attempt.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama (Bakatsine), Mohammed resisted being abducted and was shot dead by the attackers. His body was later recovered within the premises.

The assailants subsequently abducted his wife, Rukayyatu Abdullahi, along with another resident, Malama Maryam Sale, a teacher at Abarshi Secondary School, Yauri.

Security operatives who responded to the distress call reportedly engaged the bandits in a gun battle, killing one of the suspects and recovering a vehicle believed to have been used during the operation.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted women and apprehend the fleeing members of the gang, while security agencies continue investigations into the incident.

The attack has thrown the Yauri community into mourning, with family members, friends and sympathisers paying tribute to the late Mohammed ahead of his burial scheduled for Friday after Jumu’ah prayers.
