Residents of Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been thrown into mourning following reports that one of the teachers abducted from Community High School has lost his life while in captivity.

The victim, identified as Michael Oyedokun, was among several people kidnapped when armed men invaded the school on Friday, May 15. The attackers reportedly abducted the school principal, other members of staff, and some students during the raid, leaving the community in shock and fear.

The tragic development has further heightened concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Oyo State. The incident occurred only weeks after a failed kidnap attempt along the Ibadan-Ijebu Road, an attack that reportedly claimed the life of a traveller.

According to reports, a disturbing video allegedly released by the abductors on Sunday showed Oyedokun being beheaded. The video has sparked outrage and deep anxiety among residents, especially families of the victims who remain in captivity.

The atmosphere in the community has since been filled with grief, with many residents struggling to come to terms with the horrifying reports. Families of the abducted victims have continued to plead with security agencies and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts and secure the safe return of those still being held.

Community leaders and residents have also called for stronger security measures around schools and vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks.
