Atiku’s Son Backs Tinubu’s Re-Election, Pledges 10 Luxury Buses

Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, describing his decision as a personal choice guided by conscience.

Abba, who is the Founder and Chairman of the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), said his political position should not be interpreted through the affiliations or political views of members of his family.

He made the declaration during a press conference organised by the group in Abuja, where he maintained that every individual had the right to make independent political decisions.

He said, “Political conviction is a matter of personal judgement, conscience and the freedom of every individual to make independent choices.”

Abubakar explained that the formation of HBTO was a deliberate decision informed by his belief in the leadership and reform agenda of Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress-led administration.

While acknowledging that the president’s economic reforms had imposed difficult adjustments on Nigerians, he argued that the policies were also designed to deliver long-term benefits.

He cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), investments in road infrastructure, increased allocations to state governments through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) and transportation support for public sector workers as examples of the administration’s interventions.

As part of its mobilisation efforts, Abubakar announced that HBTO would commence a transportation support programme with the provision of 10 luxury buses in the Federal Capital Territory before extending the initiative to other parts of the country.

He said the organisation would also embark on a two-million-man mobilisation march across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, beginning in Abuja.

On its political activities, Abubakar disclosed that the group was working with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said HBTO had aligned its activities with Wike’s objective of delivering the FCT and Rivers State for the president.

“Our organisation is preparing for a major political mobilisation exercise in Rivers State next week,” he said.

Abubakar added that the organisation would establish structures across the six geopolitical zones and collaborate with political stakeholders, community leaders, youth organisations and women’s groups.

He expressed confidence that the mobilisation efforts would contribute to the president’s re-election campaign in 2027.
