The Oyo police command on Wednesday reported the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of goods valued at N31.75 million linked to an armed robbery that took place in the Coca-Cola area of Asejire, Ibadan.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, it was noted that police operatives acted on a report concerning a businessman, Ezekiel Inije, who was held at gunpoint by a five-member robbery gang in the area.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects have admitted to their involvement in the armed robbery in Ibadan and are cooperating with the investigation.
“The Oyo state police command has made significant progress in combating armed robbery, following reliable information that Ezekiel Inije was robbed by a five-man gang in the Coca-Cola area, Asejire, Ibadan.
“Thanks to prompt information from the public, our operatives quickly sprang into action, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of stolen items worth ₦31,750,000,” the command stated.
The arrested suspects, identified as Chigbo Mesoma (24), Erondu Wisdom (29), and Okechukwu Emmanuel (25), were apprehended in the Oko area of Ogbomoso.
The police reported the recovery of a vehicle with a Lagos registration number AAA 724 YJ, along with 2,000 bags of Karma Agric chicken feed valued at N31,750,000, a cutlass, and an additional Lagos vehicle plate number LSR 339 XW from the suspects.
The spokesperson confirmed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the armed robbery in Ibadan and are currently assisting with the ongoing investigation
