The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election after submitting their nomination forms to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The submission was completed ahead of the electoral body’s deadline for political parties to upload the names of their candidates, bringing to an end weeks of speculation over whether Tinubu would retain Shettima on the joint ticket.
The nomination documents were presented at the APC national secretariat in Abuja by the President’s Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari, in the presence of party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, federal lawmakers and cabinet members.
Speaking during the ceremony, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, described the submission as the culmination of the party’s primary election process across all elective positions.
He expressed confidence that the ruling party would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, arguing that its large membership base and the Federal Government’s programmes had strengthened support for President Tinubu.
According to Yilwatda, beneficiaries of initiatives such as the student loan scheme, ongoing road projects and agricultural interventions are expected to contribute to the party’s electoral fortunes.
He urged APC governors, elected officials and supporters to intensify efforts to publicise the achievements of the Tinubu administration while mobilising voters ahead of the election.
The APC chairman maintained that the party remained united and unfazed by opposition criticism, insisting it was well-positioned to record another electoral victory in 2027.
