The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council for Osun Central, Prince Bayo Adeleke, has dismissed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s allegations linking former governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, to the recent violence in Osun State.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE NEWS on Wednesday, Adeleke described the governor’s claims as false and instead accused supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being responsible for attacks across the state.
He alleged that members of Governor Adeleke’s camp were behind the killing of the APC chairman in Ilesa West, insisting that the governor’s administration had failed to address insecurity in the state.
According to him, security agencies were already taking steps to apprehend those responsible for the violence, adding that the police were pursuing individuals allegedly linked to the attacks.
Adeleke further claimed that insecurity in Osun began shortly after Governor Adeleke assumed office in November 2022, alleging that the governor’s executive order removing some traditional rulers sparked crises in several communities.
He also alleged that more than 20 APC members were killed during the 2022 election, while the killing of Ilesa West Local Government Chairman, Remi Abbas, in February 2025 marked the continuation of politically motivated attacks against members of the party.
The APC campaign chief called on President Bola Tinubu to direct the Osun governor to remove individuals he described as wanted criminals from the state.
Reacting to allegations that Oyetola was behind the violence, Adeleke maintained that the former governor had no involvement in the unrest, describing him as a popular political figure who is now focused on his ministerial responsibilities.
He also dismissed Governor Adeleke’s call for visa bans against Oyetola and other political figures, describing the move as misplaced and accusing the governor of panicking ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
Adeleke argued that the governor’s political coalition was collapsing, claiming that several key allies had left the PDP, and expressed confidence that the APC and its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would emerge victorious in a free and fair election.
Governor Ademola Adeleke had earlier accused Oyetola of plotting violence in the state, an allegation the former governor and the APC have repeatedly denied.
