Abuja, Nigeria – In a press statement released on February 2, 2026, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to allegations from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) regarding the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise. The APC claims that the ADC is resorting to “nonsensical” allegations, asserting that civil servants are being pressured to participate in the APC’s E-Registration initiative.
The statement, signed by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, categorically rejected the ADC’s claims as “entirely false and baseless.” Morka accused the ADC of attempting to undermine the party’s efforts in digitizing its membership register, which he described as “cutting-edge and pathbreaking.”
“This is part of ADC’s disinformation campaign,” Morka stated, noting that it includes the fabrication of a fake “APC membership slip” that falsely claimed a notorious terrorist had registered as a member of the party.
He attributed the ADC’s allegations to their intimidation by the APC’s impressive membership registration drive, which has seen millions of Nigerians register voluntarily and enthusiastically. The APC has extended the registration deadline from January 31 to February 8, 2026, in response to the overwhelming demand from the public.
“The ADC is intimidated by the phenomenal success of our Party’s E-Registration exercise, for obvious reasons. However, that cannot justify concocting and spewing lies in an attempt to smear the exercise,” Morka added.
As the ADC continues to promote what the APC describes as falsehoods, the ruling party remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing digital and democratic innovation in Nigeria.
This latest exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between the APC and ADC as both parties navigate the political landscape ahead of upcoming elections.
