Residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Thursday welcomed the first rainfall of the year, bringing relief to many parts of the city.
The rainfall was recorded in areas including Oke-Aro, Roadblock, Oloko, Orita Obele, Oke-Odu and other adjoining neighbourhoods.
Some residents described the rain as a blessing and a positive signal for the year, offering prayers of gratitude and expressing optimism about the new season.
One of the residents, Mrs Okon, said the first rain brought renewed hope, noting that it symbolised a new beginning and a fresh start.
Another resident, Mr Adeleke, said the rainfall came at a timely moment, providing relief from the intense heat experienced in recent weeks. He described the rain as a blessing from God and expressed appreciation for the change in weather.
It was gathered that the rainfall was accompanied by a mild breeze, which eased the impact of the scorching sun and brought comfort to residents across the affected areas.
