Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State is reportedly preparing to implement significant reforms within his administration, planning to sack several aides as part of a broader effort to sanitise his team. Starnews NG reports that this move comes in the wake of growing discontent and recent resignations that have shaken the governor’s inner circle.
From Monday to date, three aides have resigned, starting with Sunday Abire, Aiyedatiwa’s Special Assistant on New Media. This was followed by Pastor Taiwo Ilesanmi Gbamila, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Multimedia, who submitted his resignation in a letter addressed to the governor and copied to the office of the Secretary to the Ondo State Government.
Gbamila had previously raised alarms about the challenges faced under Aiyedatiwa’s administration, accusing influential individuals of undermining the governor and frustrating the media team by withholding necessary funding.
Early today, Yinka Richards, who served as the Special Assistant on Special Duties, submitted his resignation in a formal letter addressed to the governor, threatening to speak out at the appropriate time. He stated in a telephone interview with Starnews NG, “I will definitely say something when it is right because I believe it is normal to say something when you see something.”
The discontent among Aiyedatiwa’s aides has reportedly been exacerbated by a surge in federal allocations to the state, leading many, particularly informed intellectuals, to feel dissatisfied with the administration’s performance. Sources indicate that numerous high-profile aides are now contemplating resignation, prompting the governor to take decisive action.
In response to the unrest, Aiyedatiwa is said to be finalising plans to reorganise his team by dismissing those deemed disloyal or unfaithful. Insider sources told Starnews NG that the governor aims to swiftly address the situation, with potential announcements regarding sackings and reforms expected to occur before the end of the month.
As the situation develops, Starnews NG reports that the impending shake-up within Aiyedatiwa’s administration could have far-reaching implications for governance in Ondo State, as the governor seeks to restore order and regain the confidence of his team.
