- Highlights Challenges For Beneficiaries

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Household Prosperity and Cash Transfer Programme, revealing that nearly 400,000 households in the state have benefited from three phases of the intervention under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Aiyedatiwa made this known on Monday in Akure while receiving the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, during a courtesy visit.
The governor described the programme as a significant humanitarian effort aimed at cushioning economic hardship and supporting vulnerable families across the country.
According to him, beneficiaries were drawn from all 18 local government areas of Ondo State, with ongoing engagements designed to gather feedback on the effectiveness and impact of the initiative.
However, Aiyedatiwa raised concerns over difficulties some beneficiaries are facing in obtaining National Identification Numbers (NIN), urging relevant authorities to address the challenge to ensure smoother registration, accurate data management, and timely payment of funds.
He also commended the minister for engaging directly with beneficiaries, saying that such interactions would strengthen accountability and improve service delivery.
Earlier, Minister Bernard Doro said his visit to Ondo State was part of a nationwide assessment of the programme under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He disclosed that the state had so far received about ₦9.9 billion through successive payment cycles covering three tranches of the cash transfer scheme.
Doro, however, noted that public awareness of the programme remains relatively low, stressing the need for improved communication and transparency in social protection delivery.
He added that the Federal Government is working on a redesigned social protection framework, emphasizing the importance of grassroots participation to ensure future interventions better reflect the needs of citizens.
