The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has slapped Egypt with a $5,000 fine after the players and technical staff refused to engage the media following their 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe, DAILY POST reports.
Hossam Hassan’s side emerged victorious in a thrilling contest but shunned the media in the mixed zone after the game.
CAF described the conduct as a clear breach of the Confederation’s media obligations and warned that Egypt could face stiffer sanctions if they repeat the offence in upcoming AFCON 2025 matches.
The seven-time African champions are set to take on South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in their second group game today, Friday.
