Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has constituted a 10-man Committee on Election Violence Victims to verify claims by residents affected by election-related violence and oversee the disbursement of the state government’s ₦500 million Election Violence Victims Relief Endowment Fund.

The committee was announced on Monday, August 24, 2026, with Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Olumide Egbedun, appointed as chairman.

Other members include Eniola Omotoso; Emmanuel Olowu, representing civil society organisations; Balkiss Akinleye, a police nominee; Moshood Suleiman of the Ministry of Information; Moses Faremi, representing the Ministry of Justice; a nominee of the Department of State Services; Yemi Lawal; and Sola Sonibare, Executive Secretary of the Osun Investment Promotion Agency, who will serve as secretary.

According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the committee will receive and verify petitions, claims and supporting evidence from victims, determine their eligibility and recommend appropriate relief in line with government-approved guidelines.

The state government has invited persons who suffered losses, injuries, displacement or other hardships as a result of election-related violence to submit their claims and relevant evidence for consideration.

Adeleke had earlier announced the ₦500 million fund following the August 15 governorship election, saying it was intended to support verified victims and affected families.

The government has also promised that the fund will be administered transparently and used strictly for the benefit of verified victims.
