The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it will challenge the Court of Appeal judgment affirming the nullification of its state congresses at the Supreme Court, insisting that the ruling does not affect its already concluded direct primaries.
The party’s position follows Monday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which upheld an earlier decision of the Federal High Court restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising or participating in any state congresses organised by committees appointed by the Senator David Mark-led caretaker leadership.
In a split decision of two to one, the three-member appellate panel dismissed the appeal filed by the David Mark-led leadership and affirmed the judgment delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on April 29.
