Nollywood star Zubby Michael has stirred conversation online after revealing that he gave out ₦10.2 million to people on the streets, describing the act as his own way of paying tithe.
Speaking during a recent interview, the actor said the amount represents 10 percent of ₦102 million he earned from movie roles within a short period. According to him, he prefers to give directly to those in need rather than through a religious institution.
“I donated ₦10.2 million, which is 10 percent of the money, to the needy on the street,” he said.
Zubby Michael added that his decision is based on personal belief, noting that he does not attend church or subscribe to the practice of paying tithe through religious organisations.
“Not to brag, but I am the richest actor. The last time I checked my book, I realised that I have made ₦102 million from artist’s fees lately… I don’t pay tithe to the church,” he stated.
The actor also highlighted that the earnings were generated recently, underscoring his current momentum in the Nigerian film industry.
His comments and charitable gesture have since sparked mixed reactions, with some praising his direct support for the less privileged, while others debate his stance on traditional tithing practices.
