A member of the House of Representatives representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has reportedly mobilised over 2,000 Imams and Islamic scholars to offer prayers and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

On Saturday, 24 May 2026, political stakeholders within the Kano APC have intensified consultations aimed at strengthening support for President Tinubu’s potential second-term ambition.

The gathering, which took place in Kano, was organised as part of broader political mobilisation efforts within the ruling party as early alignments and endorsements continue to shape discussions surrounding the next presidential election.

According to reports, the clerics declared support for both President Tinubu and Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, urging unity and stability within the party ahead of the polls.

Observers believe the move reflects the growing importance of religious and grassroots influence in northern political calculations.

Political analysts say Kano remains one of Nigeria’s most strategic voting blocs, making every endorsement and mobilisation effort significant as parties begin early preparations for the 2027 elections.
